Domaine Chante Perdrix – Chateauneuf du Pape
The Domaine Chante Perdrix was founded in 1896. The Nicolet family has managed the 20 hectare estate located in the Galimardes and Les Serres lieux-dits for several generations. The surface of the vineyards is classically littered with large white stones deposited by the Rhone River. Today the vines are about 50 years old.
The primary production is red Chateauneuf which is 60-75% Grenache blended with Syrah, Mourvedre and Muscardin.
Elevage is in 1-5 year old barrels. The reds are medium-bodied with great purity of fruit, pepper and spice. They drink well young and develop nicely with age.
A smaller amount of fresh, clean and herbal white Chateauneuf du Pape is made from Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Rousanne.
