| Pouilly Fuisse Vieilles Vignes |
| Producer Domaine Verviers Region Burgundy, France Encepagement 100% Chardonnay Elevage 60% fermented and aged in five-year-old barrels. 40% fermented in five-year-old barrels. Two new barrels mixed in. Description The Vieilles Vignes comes from 70-72 year old vineyards high on the Cotes in Pouilly Fuisse. The nose has a lovely lemon-citrus character with hints of minerals. It is ripe, and full in the mouth with layers of pear and quince fruit, fine texture and a long, fruity finish. This is a clean and rich example of what can be done in the village of Pouilly Fuisse. Reviews for 2002 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Jan/Feb 2004): "Score: 88. Pale gold. Aromas of honey, oatmeal, orange juice and pineapple, with hints of mint and stone. Ripe and round, with harmonious acidity giving clarity to the fruit salad flavors. Less complex in the mouth than on the nose, but offers attractive sweetness. " © International Wine Cellar |
