Description
Chambertin Grand Cru is the densest, richest, most structured and backward of all the wines in the Trapet stable. In its youth, it has aromas of spicy oak and toast with sweet red and black fruits in the background. On the palate, it is a massive, mouth filling wine with rich layers of sweet, ripe tannins and vanilla oak. This seamless Grand Cru will definitely gain aromatics, complexity of fruit and texture from several years of bottle aging.

Reviews for 2000 Vintage
From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2003): "Points: 92. Dark red, with ruby tones. The most complex, aristocratic aromas of this set of 2000s: currant, minerals, iron and woodsmoke. Thick, lush, chewy and dense; big but also quite fresh. As much a wine of terroir as of vintage, not the easiest trick to pull off in 2000. This really fills the mouth with concentrated, sweet fruit. Finishes with extremely suave, painless tannins and lingering, rich fruit." © International Wine Cellar

From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2003): "Points: 91-94. Good red-ruby color.  Complex, scented nose of redcurrant, smoke, iron, mocha, tobacco, licorice and animal fur. Lush and seamless but kept fresh and firm by sound acidity and underlying mineral spine. Youthfully unevolved but not at all hard.  The tightest and most backward of these 2001s, but very long, subtle and vibrant on the aftertaste, coating the palate with dusty stone." © International Wine Cellar

Reviews for 2002 Vintage
From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2004): "Points: 91-94. Bright red-ruby. Bright, aromatic nose combines raspberry, currant, iron, game, coffee and mocha. Very rich and sweet, but with firm structure and minerality. Wears its 70% new oak gracefully. The most complete of these 2002s, finishing with very broad, ripe tannins." © International Wine Cellar

From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 151 (Feb 2004): "Points: 94. Displaying an addition level of concentration and depth, the 2002 Chambertin is medium to dark ruby-colored and boasts a nose of herbal blackberries. Supple, pure, silky-textured, and medium to full-bodied, it is a fleshy, lush wine. Its flavor profile, composed of licorice, tar, cassis liqueur, and syrupy dark fruits, lingers in its long, suave finish. Projected maturity: now - 2014." © The Wine Advocate

Reviews for 2005 Vintage
From the The Wine Advocate, #170 (April 2007): “Points 93+ The Trapet 2005 Chambertin Points 93+ comes from three (I am told) geologically distinct parcels.   Bitter-sweet cherry, anisette, and mocha scent the nose.   In the mouth this is undeniably expansive and rich, with complexities of gamey meatiness and humus mingling with its sweet berry fruit.   Whether it is some negative synergy with the barrel or just the result of recent bottling, I find a slight sour streak in the finish.   But a small (and hopefully fleeting) blemish can be easily hidden amid such folds of fruit, viscosity and abundant, fine-grained tannin as are on display.   This is perfect for those who want a friendly bear of a Burgundy they can hug – preferably in around ten years time.” © The Wine Advocate
