Ch. Rose d’Orion is the second wine of Ch. Grand Barail located in
the western part of the appellation Montagne St.-Emilion. The soil is gravel
and silica and the vines and 20 years old. The vineyards are 70% Merlot and
30% Cabernet Franc. The estate uses traditional fermentation in temperature
controlled cement and stainless steel vats. The wines are aged in one- or
two-year-old barrels and in stainless steel vats. The wines are lightly filtered
before bottling. Total production is about 1,500 cases per year.
