Giles Remoriquet, the proprietor of this estate in Nuits St. Georges, has
worked with Patrick Lesec since the 1996 vintage, and it seems that each
year his knowledge of and ability to utilize the techniques of non-interventionist
elevage substantially improves.
The holdings of the estate include a range of vineyards in Nuits St. Georges
and one in Vosne Romanée. The vineyards range in age from 25-60+ years of
age.
Giles racks the wines once before bottling. He does not fine or filter and
bottling is done by hand. He uses as little sulphur as possible, and the
wines are aged in 100% new barrels.
Each of his wines has a consistent character. The Nuits St. Georges vineyards
have distinct Nuits tendencies. The Vosne Romanee is classic Vosne. What
they have in common is purity of fruit, fine texture and great aromatics. |
