| Crozes Hermitage Cuvée l'Essentiel |
| Producer Domaine Remizières Region Northern Rhône, France Encepagement 100% Syrah Elevage 100% in new barrels Not fined or filtered. 35 year old vines from Larnage on the slope next to Hermitage and the finest vineyard in Crozes. Reviews for 2003 Vintage From the Wine Advocate, #156 (Dec 2004): "Points: 92-94. The 2003 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee l’Essential, which ranges from 15.5 – 16% alcohol, boasts an inky/black color, massive extraction, and smoky, earthy, blackberry liqueur intertwined with raspberry, new saddle leather, licorice, and camphor characteristics. It is unlike any previous vintage of this cuvee. As Philippe Desmeures told me, it is a vintage of anthology for the northern Rhone." © The Wine Advocate From the International Wine Cellar (Jan/Feb 2006): "Points: 92. (from 90-year-old vines and aged in all new barriques): Bright ruby-red. Hugely aromatic nose offers crème de mure, cherry, redcurrant, molasses and spice cake. Dense, creamy, broad and utterly packed with fruit; this boasts remarkable palate presence and serious heft. Finishes with notes of cassis and candied licorice, the ripe tannins totally buffered by sheer material." © International Wine Cellar |
