The 2003 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee l’Essential, which ranges from 15.5 – 16% alcohol, boasts an inky/black color, massive extraction, and smoky, earthy, blackberry liqueur intertwined with raspberry, new saddle leather, licorice, and camphor characteristics. It is unlike any previous vintage of this cuvee. (from 90-year-old vines and aged in all new barriques): Bright ruby-red. Hugely aromatic nose offers crème de mure, cherry, redcurrant, molasses and spice cake. Dense, creamy, broad and utterly packed with fruit; this boasts remarkable palate presence and serious heft.
