10% Roussane

Description
This attractive white exhibits toffee and sweet oak characters in the nose. It is fresh and clean on the palate with touches of lemon-citrus, spice and well-integrated vanilla oak. The Crozes is fleshier and riper than the Hermitage Blanc, and generally should be consumed in the first 5-7 years.

Reviews for 2001 Vintage
From the Wine Advocate, #147 (June 2003): "Points: 89. As for the white wines, the glycerin-imbued 2001 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee Christophe (90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne) reveals a muted bouquet of flowers, pears, and peaches. Tasty, long, and successful for the vintage, it requires consumption over the next 2-3 years. Philippe Desmeures continues to build on his recent successes (the 1999s remain his finest efforts to date). This is a serious estate given Desmeures's unmanipulative winemaking philosophy that puts as much of the essence of his vineyards into the bottle as anyone. In the more challenging 2000 and 2001 vintages, the red wine cuvees have turned out well, although none are up to the level of the 1999s." © The Wine Advocate

From the International Wine Cellar (Jan/Feb 2003): "Points: 87. (bottled in September) Bright lemony yellow. Pure aromas of apple, ginger and spring flowers. Juicy and layered, with enticing fruit flavors complicated by honey, spice and resiny oak." © International Wine Cellar

Reviews for 2003 Vintage
From the Wine Advocate, #156 (Dec 2004): "Points: 87. The white offerings are more fragile, with low acidity as well as evolved colors. The 2003 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee Christophe Blanc reveals a Pinot Gris d’Alsace-like personality in its honeyed, oily notes. With plenty of dried apricot and peach-like flavors, I would opt for drinking this flavorful white over the next 1-2 years." © The Wine Advocate
