Description This attractive white exhibits toffee and sweet oak characters in the nose. It is fresh and clean on the palate with touches of lemon-citrus, spice and well-integrated vanilla oak. The Crozes is fleshier and riper than the Hermitage Blanc, and generally should be consumed in the first 5-7 years. Reviews for 2001 Vintage From the Wine Advocate, #147 (June 2003): "Points: 89. As for the white wines, the glycerin-imbued 2001 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee Christophe (90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne) reveals a muted bouquet of flowers, pears, and peaches. Tasty, long, and successful for the vintage, it requires consumption over the next 2-3 years. Philippe Desmeures continues to build on his recent successes (the 1999s remain his finest efforts to date). This is a serious estate given Desmeures's unmanipulative winemaking philosophy that puts as much of the essence of his vineyards into the bottle as anyone.
