Producer Patrick Lesec Selections (Southern Rhône) Region Southern Rhône, France Encepagement 80% Grenache 40 year old vines 20% Syrah 20 year old vine Elevage Rocky soil on clay/limestone in Sarrians district Destemmed 3 weeks maceration 100% aged in tank Description In this cuvee, aromas of fresh framboise are followed by lush, sweet fruit on the palate and layers of soft, ripe tannins. This Vacqueyras is a bit more elegant and quite delicious. Reviews for 2003 Vintage From the Wine Advocate, #156 (Dec 2004): "Points: 89-91. The 2003 Vacqueyras Grandy (80% Grenache and 20% Syrah) offers aromas of kirsch liqueur, garrigue, earth, and pepper in a full-bodied, fleshy, concentrated, forward format with high alcohol and glycerin as well as low acidity. Drink it over the next 6-7 years." © The Wine Advocate From the International Wine Cellar (Jan/Feb 2006): "Points: 88. Medium red. Rich but lively scents of plum jam, cassis and blackberry. Thick and tactile, with dense flavors of dark berry liqueur and exotic spices. Finishes fresh and long." © International Wine Cellar |
