| Vacqueyras Chant de Goût |
|
Producer Patrick Lesec Selections (Southern Rhône) Region Southern Rhône, France Encepagement 80% Grenache 20% Syrah Vines 25-40 years old Elevage Two-thirds destemmed. Five weeks maceration. 100% aged in tank. Description In this cuvée, aromas of fresh framboise are followed by lush, sweet fruit on the palate and layers of soft, ripe tannins. This Vacqueyras is a bit more elegant and less full-bodied than the others, but quite delicious. Reviews for 2000 Vintage From the Wine Advocate, #145 (Feb 2003): "Points: 89+. The 2000 and 2001 Vacqueyras Chant du Gout both reveal abundant quantities of garrigue, kirsch liqueur, pepper, and spice. The 2000 is a bit lusher and riper, with lower acidity, and a fleshier personality. The unbottled 2001 may turn out to be better. Additional licorice, black cherry, and earth notes as well as higher acidity and a cooler-climate mouthfeel give it more structure and delineation, but not the charm or succulence of the 2000. Both wines have 5-8 years of longevity." © The Wine Advocate |
