Reviews for 2000 Vintage From the Wine Advocate, #145 (Feb 2003): "Points: 87. The red Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau Vieilles Vignes is a blend of 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre aged 25% in old oak barrels and 75% in tank. This is a rustic, leathery, chocolatey effort possessing considerable force, loads of sweet and sour black cherry fruit, and a hint of roasted meats. The wine is not that civilized, and there is a certain toughness to the tannin, but readers who love more animalistic, big southern Rhone reds will enjoy it. The wine will age for a decade." © The Wine Advocate From the International Wine Cellar (Jan/Feb 2003): "Points: 88(+?). Ruby-red. Aromatic nose dominated by violet and licorice. Tightly wound, somewhat inky flavors of raw crushed dark fruits. Very firmly built wine, currently showing substantial oak tannins. Needs time." © International Wine Cellar Reviews for 2001 Vintage From the Wine Advocate, #145 (Feb 2003): "Points: 86-87. Blackberry fruit aroma complicated by a tree bark note from the mourvedre and some obvious new oak. Juicy, intense flavors of crushed black- and blueberry. Finishes with excellent grip and a youthful bitter edge." © International Wine Cellar |
