Description This lovely Gigondas comes from the estate of Les Paillère et Piedgu. It has a spicy nose with the perfume of black fruits. Dense, ripe black fruits in the mouth are nicely balanced by plenty of soft, round tannins. Typical of Gigondas, this is a substantial wine with good grip and a lush, sweet finish. Reviews for 2003 Vintage From the Wine Advocate, #156 (Dec 2004): "Points: 89-91. The powerhouse 2003 Gigondas l’Estale is a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre, and 15% Syrah that achieved 16% natural alcohol. Deep, heady, fat, and chewy, it offers copious quantities of black currant and raspberry fruit along with a hint of minerals, outstanding levels of glycerin, and a long, muscular finish. Drink it over the next 7-8 years." © The Wine Advocate From the International Wine Cellar (Jan/Feb 2006): "Points: 90. Deep red. Energetic aromas of red berries and cherry lifted by a floral nuance. Round, silky and sweet on the palate, with the bright raspberry and strawberry notes repeating. This lush, inviting wine finishes with very soft tannins and admirable length." © International Wine Cellar |
