Producer Patrick Lesec Selections (Languedoc-Roussillon) Region Languedoc-Roussillon, France Encepagement 90% Syrah, 15 year old vines 10% Carignan, 50 year old vines Clay-limestone soil. Machine harvested. 40 hectoliters per hectare Elevage Three week maceration. Pneumatic press. 30% aged in new barrels, 70% in one-year barrels. No fining or filtering. Description The Syrah Tonneaux is custom-made for Patrick Lesec at an estate in the Minervois region. Made 90% from Syrah, this really attractive red is designed for those who enjoy Côte Rotie, but don’t want to pay the price. The 2000 vintage has less new wood than the 1999, and is more elegant with more emphasis on pure, sweet, ripe fruit. This lovely Syrah is very fragrant and more forward on the palate.
