| Riesling Fruehmess |
| Producer Domaine Gerard Metz Region Alsace, France Encepagement 100% Riesling, 35 year old vines, harvested by hand Elevage Aged 10 months on its lies in tank. Description Fruehmess is a prestigious single vineyard facing south in the village of Ittersviller. This intensely concentrated, old vines Riesling has intriguing aromas of minerals and spice. In the mouth the minerality is enhanced by hints of lemon-citrus, apple and white flowers. The finish is dry and clean and this wine matches up exceedingly well with fish, shellfish, poultry, Asian spices and light meats. It will also gain complexity with age in bottle. Reviews for 2001 Vintage From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 143 (Oct 2002): "Points: 87. Tangy mineral aromas can be found in the nose of the 2000 Riesling Fruehmess. Light to medium-bodied, this noteworthy value has good depth of fruit, a softly-textured light to medium-bodied personality, and reveals expressive minerals, flowers, and apples. Anticipated maturity: now-2007." © The Wine Advocate |
