| Gewurztraminer Vieilles Vignes |
| Producer Domaine Gerard Metz Region Alsace, France Encepagement 100% Gewurztraminer, 35 year old vines, harvested by hand Elevage Aged 10 months on its lies in tank. Description This old vines Gewurztraminer virtually bursts out of the glass with fragrances of flowers, peaches and spice. On the palette it is ripe, rich and opulent with a fine texture and a long, fruity, spicy finish. It drinks well young, but will develop more complexity with some bottle age. Drink as an aperitif, with spicy Asian foods or with dessert. Reviews for 2000 Vintage From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 143 (Oct 2002): "Points: 88. The juicy peach, spice, and rose-scented 2000 Gewurztraminer Vieilles Vignes is a superb value. This dense wine is crammed with spiced peaches, apricots, and flowers. Medium-bodied, it is oily-textured, lush, and beautifully ripe. Drink it over the next 4-5 years." © The Wine Advocate |
