| Fixin Hervelets 1er Cru |
| Producer Domaine St. Martin Region Burgundy, France Encepagement 100% Pinot Noir Elevage 40-60 year old vines. Aged in 100% new oak barrels. One racking by hand before bottling. Not fined or filtered. Bottled by hand. Description Hervelets is the top 1er cru in the village of Fixin, and Martin does an excellent job with these grapes every year. Only six barrels of the 2000 were made. The nose is very rich with lovely cherry, spice and toasty oak tones. On the palate the lush, sweet, ripe cherry fruit is nicely balanced with layers of toasty oak and round, soft tannins. This wine is perfectly pleasant to drink in its youth and should maintain its fruity attractions for 5-6 years. Reviews for 2001 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2004): "Points: 86. Good bright, deep red. Liqueur-like strawberry, coffee and mint on the nose. Sweet, supple berry and torrefaction flavors could use a bit more definition. A moderately concentrated wine with good sweetness in the middle but a slightly tough finish." © International Wine Cellar |
