| Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru |
| Producer Domaine St. Martin Region Burgundy, France Encepagement 100% Pinot Noir Elevage 18-37 year old vines. Aged in 90% new oak barrels. One racking by hand before bottling. Not fined or filtered. Bottled by hand. Description The 2000 Grand Cru Chambertin Clos de Bèze is a wine of classical elegance and finesse. It starts with aromas of bright cherry, toast and rose petals. On the palate its soft, fine tannins nicely balance the concentrated, sweet red fruits and a subtle layer of vanilla oak. It finishes long and sweet and complex. It is, however, produced in tiny quantities. This classic Grand Cru can be enjoyed young and will also take 7-10 years age in bottle. Reviews for 2002 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2005): "Points: 90?. Good deep red-ruby. Flamboyantly wild, complex aromas of blackberry, cassis, violet, truffle and humus. Superripe, lush and sweet, with black fruit and floral flavors verging on the exotic. Seamless in the middle and long on the finish, with sweet tannins and an almost candied suggestion of crème de framboise." © International Wine Cellar |
