| Meursault Narvaux |
| Producer Domaine Latour-Giraud Region Burgundy, France Encepagement 100% Chardonnay Elevage Vines are 40 years old. One-third new oak. Aged one year in barrel. Racking before bottling. Fined, not filtered. Hand bottled. Description Meursault Narvaux is a lieu dit, a non-premier cru, single vineyard, village wine from Meursault. It is high on the slope and has as a result a cooler climate and poorer soil, but never suffers from rot. Narvaux tends to be in the elegant style for Meursault with more minerality, lemon-citrus character and crisper acidity and less ripeness and fatness. Reviews for 2000 Vintage From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 138 (Dec 2001): "Points: 88-90. The 2000 Meursault Narvaux explodes from the glass with creamy anise and toast scents. Velvety-textured and medium to full-bodied, it is packed with candied apples and sultry pears. This wine is fat, luscious, and sexy. Drink it over the next 4 years." © The Wine Advocate From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2002): "Points: 90. Pale color. Soft citrus fruits, pear and peach complicated by nut oil, oatmeal and nutmeg notes on the aromatic nose. Sweet, lush and shapely, with the nutty character following through in the mouth. A rich, aromatic wine with good spine and a firm, persistent finish." © International Wine Cellar Reviews for 2001 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2004): "Points: 87. Reticent nose hints at orange and grilled nuts. Soft, sweet and broad, with a nutty flavor. Rather suave in the middle palate but a bit warm on the back end, with modest thrust and grip." © International Wine Cellar Reviews for 2002 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2004): "Points: 89-92. Ripe, complex nose melds pineapple, minerals, spices and hazelnut, along with hints of more exotic fruits. Rich, sweet, thick and rather powerful, but with solid balancing acidity. Almost like a vendange tardive in style. A bit youthfully aggressive today but showing strong material." © International Wine Cellar From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 151 (Feb 2004): "Points: 87-89. Gorgeous aromas of minerals, candied hazelnuts, and spices can be discerned in the nose of the 2002 Meursault Narvaux. It expands on the palate, displaying minerals, lemons, spices, and hints of candied grapefruit. At present, its finish is slightly tight yet Latour vows to continue its elevage until it properly fleshes out. Drink it over the next 4-5 years." © The Wine Advocate Reviews for 2003 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2005): "Points: 87. "Exotic, candied aromas of apricot and honey. Then fat, sweet and rich, with fruit-driven flavors of apricot and orange zest. A rather powerful Narvaux that misses out on minerality. A bit warm on the back." © International Wine Cellar |
