Description
Named for Charles and Maxime, Jean-Pierre Latour's children's two grandfathers, this cuvée is a blend of grapes from four named vineyard sites (lieu dit) in Meursault: Crotots, Lespelles, Les Corbin and Vireuils. This is a more elegant and forward wine than the single vineyards, but still intensely Meursault in character. It has an appealing yeasty, toasty nose with hints of lemon curd, and vanilla. In the mouth it has bright, lemon-citrus tones with elegant oaky toast and a crisp, clean, lively finish.

Reviews for 2000 Vintage
From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 138 (Dec 2001): "Points: 87-89. The 2000 Meursault Cuvée Charles Maxime displays mineral and white fruit aromas that lead to a creamy, silky, medium-bodied character. Opulent layers of pears and apples are found throughout this forward wine's flavor profile as well as in its appealing finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years." © The Wine Advocate

From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2002): "Points: 88. Slightly gamey, reduced aromas of nectarine and baking spices. Dense, layered and ripe, with apple and pear notes. Shapely and persistent." © International Wine Cellar

Reviews for 2001 Vintage
From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2004): "Points: 87. Soft citrus and hazelnut aromas.  Spicy and fresh, with a bit less fat but more verve than the Clos du Cromin.  Still on the soft side but made with a light touch.  Finishes with good length." © International Wine Cellar

Reviews for 2002 Vintage
From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2004): "Points: 89-91. Vibrant, pure aromas of mandarin orange and spices, with hints of exotic fruits.  Brisk acids give shape and precision to the pineapple and mango flavors.  Longer and more pliant than the Clos du Cromin, with noteworthy verve. This should be a terrific village wine." © International Wine Cellar

From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 151 (Feb 2004): "Points: 87-89. The 2002 bursts from the glass with loads of white flower-laced spices. Medium-bodied, satiny-textured, and broad, it is a resiny, fresh wine packed with rich layers of stones. Drink it over the next 3-4 years." © The Wine Advocate

Reviews for 2003 Vintage
From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2005): "Points: 86. "Slightly blurry aromas of soft citrus fruits, oatmeal and nuts. Round and sweet if a bit warm in the middle, with a dominant flavor of orange. Ultimately offers more texture than flavor and finishes with a slight burn of alcohol." © International Wine Cellar
