| Meursault Bouchères 1er Cru |
| Producer Domaine Latour-Giraud Region Burgundy, France Encepagement 100% Chardonnay Elevage 25-year-old vines. One-third to one-half new oak. Aged one year in barrel. Racking before bottling. Fined, not filtered. Hand bottled. Description Latour-Giraud makes a small quantity of Meursault Boucheres 1er cru. The 2000 vintage is rich, ripe and fat with a decidedly creamy, vanilla, malolactic character. It has rich, attractive aromas of yeast and toast and a long, creamy finish. Reviews for 2000 Vintage From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 138 (Dec 2001): "Points: 88-90. The fresh 2000 Meursault Boucheres reveals crisp apple aromas and a lovely, satin-textured, medium to full-bodied character. It is powerful, spicy, beautifully ripe, and crammed with sweet pear flavors. Drink it over the next 6 years." © The Wine Advocate From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2002): "Points: 91. Greeny-gold color. Wild, gamey, slightly reduced aromas of lime, hawthorn and charred oak. Big, rich and tactile, with citrus, mineral and salty traces. Dense and layered but impressively light on its feet. This has strong extract and very suave oak. Persistent, saline finish. Much richer and more expansive than it appeared from barrel a year ago." © International Wine Cellar Reviews for 2001 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2004): "Points: 88. Musky, expressive aromas of lime, orange, smoke and nuts. Chewy and substantial in the mouth; gives the impression of more extract. Nicely harmonious acidity. But doesn’t quite deliver what the nose promises. Finishes with good length and decent grip." © International Wine Cellar Reviews for 2002 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Sep/Oct 2004): "Points: 89-91. Subdued nose dominated by nutty oak. Then bright and spicy in the mouth, with chewy citrus flavors of noteworthy precision. Nicely dense, intense and uncompromisingly dry Meursault. This finished with barely one gram per liter of residual sugar, according to Latour." © International Wine Cellar From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 151 (Feb 2004): "Points: 89-91. The 2002 Meursault Boucheres boasts an immensely pleasing nose of hazelnuts, ginger, and spices. This buttery, suave, medium-bodied wine is deep, satiny-textured, and possesses a lovely, long, fruit-filled finish. Copious quantities of creamed nuts, ginger, and nutmeg can be discerned throughout its expressive core. Drink it over the next 6-8 years." © The Wine Advocate |
