Description
This parcel from the top of Clos Vougeot bordering Musigny produces the highest
quality grapes of the appellation, and the wine sometimes seems more like Musigny
than Clos Vougeot. This elegant Grand Cru has a dark, brilliant red color and
rich aromas of black fruits, wildflowers and spicy oak. In the mouth there is
a great concentration of sweet, ripe, black fruits and silky, lush, chocolatey
tannins. The finish is long and elegant with complex, sweet fruit and vanilla
oak. The 2000 vintage is fairly forward and will drink well over the next five
years.
Reviews for 2000 Vintage
From the International
Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2003): "Points: 89. Bright, deep red.
Superripe aromas of crystallized cherry and smoked meat. Sweet, musky,
dense and fat, with very ripe red fruit flavors. A lush, seamless wine
that finishes with very fine tannins, lingering spicy flavor a bit of alcoholic
warmth." © International

Reviews for 2001 Vintage
From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2004): "Points: 91. Medium-deep red. Black raspberry, cherry cola, truffle, smoke and underbrush on the nose; a real blast of Burgundian earth. Concentrated, dense and sappy, with liqueur-like notes of raspberry and cherry, complemented by cola, herbal and roasted oak tones. Long finish features big but sweet tannins. Not at all an austere style of Clos Vougeot; in fact, this is delicious already, if without quite the urgency of the Richebourg." © International Wine Cellar
Reviews for 2002 Vintage
From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 154 (Aug 2004): "Points: 94.
Medium to dark ruby-colored and exhibiting a profound, mouth-watering nose of red cherries, waxy blackberries, spices, and hints of cola, the 2002 Clos Vougeot Musigni is an exceptional effort. Armed with awesome power and concentration, this deep, satin-textured, medium to full-bodied beauty is crammed with wonderfully ripe dark fruits as well as a myriad of spices. Though intensely rich, this wine also reveals outstanding purity and freshness. In addition, its prolonged, fruit-filled, seamless finish displays sweet, supply tannin. Drink it over the next 10-14 years." © The Wine Advocate
