| Vosne Romanée |
| Producer Gros Frères et Soeurs Region Burgundy, France Encepagement 100% Pinot Noir 70% declassified young vines Echezeaux, 10 years old Elevage 1/3 new barrels, 2/3 one- and two-year-old barrels. Lightly fined, not filtered. Description As befitting its origins (70% declassified young vines Echezeaux Grand Cru), this Vosne Romanée has great concentration of fruit, elegance and balance. Aromas of bright cherries, spice and oak are followed by complex cherry/berry fruit and soft, smooth round tannins. Elegant vanilla oak and pure cherries blossom in the lengthy finish. The overall impression is a lovely forward Pinot that will give much pleasure in its youth. Reviews for 2000 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2003): "Points: 86. Medium red with a hint of development at the rim. Expressive, somewhat evolved aromas of smoky red fruits, underbrush, truffle and orange peel. Sweet and supple, with attractive fruit and weight; offers very good flavor interest but could use a bit more verve and definition. Finishes with slightly dry-edged tannins." © International Wine Cellar Reviews for 2001 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2004): "Points: 88. Medium red. Rather full-blown, roasted aromas of raspberry, smoked meat, earth and underbrush; already sweet and expressive. Nicely concentrated, penetrating flavors of black raspberry, strawberry and mulch, perked up by some unabsorbed CO2. Finishes fresh and persistent, with a slight dry edge." © International Wine Cellar |
