Description
Richebourg is consistently the estate's densest and richest Grand Cru. It has a deep, dark, brilliant red color and a complex nose of framboise, cassis, wildflowers and spicy oak. On the palate it combines loads of ripe, sweet black fruits with layers of soft, round tannins and vanilla oak. The finish is long with plenty of ripe fruit and sweet oak. The 2000 Richebourg is fleshy and ripe, but will develop complexity of elegance in bottle for several years.

Reviews for 2001 Vintage
From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2004): "Points: 92. Good full red. Superripe but sappy aromas of red cherry, sassafras and bitter chocolate. Penetrating and highly aromatic in the mouth, with raspberry, spice, mineral and floral flavors. At once dense and pretty, finishing with firm-edged tannins, lively acidity and an explosion of sappy red fruits and minerals." © International Wine Cellar

Reviews for 2002 Vintage
From the The Wine Advocate, Issue 154 (Aug 2004): "Points: 95. The less powerful yet more refined 2002 Richebourg has a strong ruby color and reveals magnificent aromatic depth. Its candied red cherry, sassafras and cola scents lead to a medium-bodied core of cassis, blackberries, spices, and cherries galore. Silky-textured, deep, and holding much in reserve, this concentrated, elegant wine also displays an exceptionally long finish. Projected maturity:  2008-2020." © The Wine Advocate

From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2005): "Points: 95. Medium red. Highly perfumed, ineffably complex aromas of strawberry, currant, bacon fat, cocoa powder, gunflint, coffee and smoked meat. Dense, sappy and wonderfully intense, with exhilarating flavors of smoked meat, spices, minerals and underbrush. Conveys a powerful impression of soil tones. Builds almost freakishly on the back end, finishing with a kick of spice and a flavor of pink peppercorn. A wonderfully suave, extremely long Richebourg that offers great early appeal but has the spine to develop in bottle for 10 or 15 years." © International Wine Cellar
