| Clos St. Denis |
| Producer Domaine Pierre Amiot Region Burgundy, France Encepagement 100% Pinot Noir Elevage 50% old vines (50 years) and 50% young vines (15 years). Grand Cru. 100% aged in new barrels. One racking by hand before bottling. Not fined or filtered. Bottled by hand. Description Only two barrels a year are made of this intense and concentrated, but classy and elegant Grand Cru. The aromas are redolent of wildflowers and black fruits. In the mouth there is a wonderful concentration of sweet, ripe black fruits and layers of soft, round tannins and vanilla oak. The finish is long and sweet and the wine will not need much bottle aging to be ready to give great pleasure to the lucky few who arrange to obtain some. Reviews for 2001 Vintage From the International Wine Cellar (Mar/Apr 2004): "Points: 90. Good medium red. Aromatic nose combines red fruits, rose petal and spicy oak. Juicy, spicy and intense, with a firm acid spine framing its red fruit and spice flavors. Complicated by a saline suggestion of extract. Finishes long, bright and firm, with fine tannins. A very good showing." © International Wine Cellar |
